Welcome to MY world... a world where work is just something you do to buy Jeep parts... a world where whiners aren't  allowed... and where, "Ya cain't run with the Big Dogs if ya pee like a puppy!"   If gettin' down and dirty with some Swamper spinnin', horsepower screamin', suspension flexin', frame twistin', cliff hangin', rock crawlin', roll cage testin',  adrenaline pumpin' good clean fun is what you're into... then welcome to MY world!!   AAAAAEEEEE!!!!

My name is Rick Curtis. Yeah, I'm that guy from Oklahoma with the big Purple Camo Jeep... 'cept it's not purple camo anymore!  It got the "rat rod" treatment, coutesy of Chad McDonald @ Green Country Offroad in Vinita, OK.  It is now flat black with purple tube work and purple and neon green graphics.  I 'wheel as much as I can this part of the country. Disney, Clayton, Poteau, in Oklahoma, and Hot Springs, AR, are my favorite places to play. The best four-wheeling in the country is practically in my backyard!! I have plenty of pictures of the ol' purple camo jeep, new and old, on my picture pages, so make sure you check them out!!

For me, jeeping is a family activity. I've got an up-and-coming driver (and No. 1 shop hand!!), "Li'l Beast"... a chip off the ol' block!  Then there's the rest of my "family"... my fellow Black-Hat-wearing jeeping podners known as the "Bad Ass Boys"... as great a bunch of guys as you'll ever know! Again, plenty of pictures of them on my friends page, so check 'em out!!

I have two Jeeps... at the present anyway!!  "THE BEAST" , a 1982 CJ7, is my trail rig.  I purchased it in May of 1985.  It was stock except for some 33" tires and chrome wheels.  "Beast Jr." is a 1984 Scrambler that I bought in 1998. I have plans in the works for a trail rig for "Li'l Beast"... hopefully done by spring 2011!

The Beast is a 1982 CJ7... or what's left of it!   It features a custom Wagoner Machine Shop 3 link/coil suspension on a YJ frame. The axles are "deuce and a half" Rockwells.  Both axles are steering axles with Detroit Lockers, and gearing is 6.72:1.  A Wagoner Machine Shop hydraulic steering kit featuring custom high clearance steering arms, custom tie rods, and an orbital valve/ram combination. Plenty of steering fluid is delivered courtesy of a Performance Steering Components high volume pump / remote aluminum  reservoir combo. A trick Parker Hydraulics hand valve, also supplied by WMS, controls the rear steering.  The Beast rides on 44" Super Swamper TSLs on a 121" wheelbase.

Power is supplied by a .040" overbored and blueprinted 4 bolt main 350 Chevy.  Built by Franklin Racing Engines, in Okmulgee, OK, the engine sports flat-top TRW forged pistons (10.5:1), ported and polished "double-hump" heads with stainless steel valves (1.94" intake/1.60" exhaust), Speed Pro "blueprint series" 350hp 327 cam, Holley 2Di digital TBI fuel injection, Mallory Unilite ignition, and makes an estimated 400hp.  A Griffin 2 row (1-1/4" tubes) aluminum radiator handles the cooling. A  B&M Pro Ratchet shifted TH350 automatic transmission transfers the power to a NP203/NP205 dual  transfer case combination with a John Sumner-built adapter.

Other noteworthy features include the 6-point rollcage (tied into the frame), engine-driven York onboard air compressor with 5 gallon tank, Ramsey REP 8000 winch with on-dash switch, a full complement of Auto Meter "Phantom" gauges (tach, oil pres, water temp, volts, fuel press, and air pressure for the compressor), Corbeau seats front and rear, DJ Safety 4 point harness belts in front, DJ Safety belts for rear seat, RCI aluminum fuel cell, and a Uniden PC76XL C.B. radio.  Custom floorpan by Green Country Offroad in Vinita, OK.

"BEAST JR." is a 1984 Scrambler that features a 4" lift, 35x12.50x15 Mud King radials on 15x10 American Racing directional aluminum wheels.  The front axle is the original Dana 30 with 4.10 gears and a LokRight... the rear axle is a 9" Ford with 4.10 gears and a Detroit Locker.

Under the hood sits a 283 Chevy (.040" overbored) built by Todd's Napa and Machine Shop in Checotah, OK.  The little motor has the same 350hp 327 blueprint series camshaft that is in The Beast's 350, and an Edelbrock Performer 600cfm carburetor on a Performer intake manifold.  "Jr." also inherited Beast's GM SM420 granny 4-speed, and mated to the Dana 300 transfer case, yields a crawl ratio of 75:1.
